Life or something like it . . .

( The title is the name of a Angelina Jolie, I saw sometime back. Wanted to write Something in the same context from a pretty long time. Finally got enough material to justify the title)

The sun rises, a new day has come.
A new day, a new beginning.
The cocoon breaks and the butterfly emerges,
Spreading new light, new colors.

You can be what you want to be,
Define life to a TEE,
Thats living life in VEE,
And thats when life stings you back like a bee.

A plane flies in the sky,
Fly , Fly like a bird, like an eagle,
Soar the skies, cut through the air,
It only takes a speck of dust to rip it apart.

Reality strikes then one day,
Cracking all the glasses,
Like throwing a boulder into the still water,
Reverberating, pulsing off the waves.

You are all of 25, All matured, overworked, all tired,
You are left all alone in absolute isolation,
Is it just the attraction that kills,
Or the total misadventure me,
Relationships that I kill.

I think therefore I am goes the slogan,
But I am because of the circumstances,
I am what the world has made me,
I am not what I always wanted to be.

Life is all about chances,
Or rather all the unused chances,
Chances one should take to be happy,
Or rather chances not taken to remain free.

shadows

A sailor watches a lonely hand on the surface,
He brings his boat to the tired traveller,
The look in the eye is one of gratefulness,
A firm handshake signals a new beginning.

A new beginning to life and its ways,
Always will you find something/ someone to go by,
An accomplice to help you in your way,
No man's an island, two is company,

Companionship required to fulfill the rules of duality,
Day and night, black and white,
You and your shadow, Man and a woman,
Something to keep you in place, in your orbit,

An orbit to revolve, or an axis to rotate,
Something to keep you in the worldly order,
You can run away from home, wife and family,
But your one true follower is your shadow,

Shadows will be there till there is light,
A shadow may dissappear on a cloudy day,
But a faint whisker of darkness will lead you to light,
Shadows are but the proof of existence on a sunny day.

A sunny day, a symbol of all happiness in the world,
A dark foggy day; gloom, dissappointment, unhappiness,
Principle of duality my dear friends,
If thou shalt see the night, he shalt certainly see day.

In the day did the Titanic sail in all majesty,
With nightfall approaching, it approached doomsday,
A tip of the iceberg is all it took to decimate,
With the shadow beneath its eventual nemesis.

Nemesis and genesis of all beings,
Living and dead, plants and animals,
mobile and immobile, air and water,
In two parts are they,
Where there is a calm there will be a storm.

A storm came by, a catastrophe shall befall,
The boat capsizes, the hand of life pulls away,
The sailor drowns, the lonely traveller floats,
His shadow the only compass to show the way.

MCP - Yeah thats me !!! Or Am I Really !!!!

To begin with I need to make two clarifications. Or rather lets just say i need to make three clarifications . First I have had just 60 ml of whiskey before getting on this literary journey(The government permits 90 ml when you drive, correct me if I am wrong. ) Second Clarification is to those who do not know what MCP is it is MALE CHAUVINISTIC PIG. And the third and final clarification is that, well its been almost two years since i wrote an article, so pardon the diction, flow and the vocabulary. Writing poems is far more easier thanks to the POETIC License given to twist and turn the words and grammar to my whims and fancies.

Now let me not digress and get straight to the point w.r.t the topic. The beauty of the male dominated Indian culture hit me when I was consoling a poor soul on the demise of his relationship with someone. "Demise of his relationship", well yes pun is intended. Think about it when people die you dont feel bad about it because they are dead, You feel bad about it because your relationship with that person is over. Period. So as I was in the agony aunt mode giving him the "Tu nahin tho koi aur sahi, koi aur nahin tho koi aur sahi" funda. Out of the blue, I told him" Waise bhi mummy daddy hai na, Koi na koi aishwarya Rai dhund hi lenge" Ah !! I heard that darling, you just called me an MCP didn't you ?? Anyways let me come back to the point. I went a few steps further and even said "Thank God we are Indians barring a few girls who would crave for a Marc Robinson, the remaining would have to settle down with us(the non fancied 8-8 working below average looking Indian youth) ". Wow there is a God. Or is there ?? I know what you are thinking, Was I consoling this guy or counselling this guy into being non commital, have a bash after all even if it does not work mummy daddy hai na!!!!!!!!!!!

Just read my scrapbook on Orkut today, Well someone wanted to counsel me for Flirting with a Married chick ( oopsie its the drinks ), I meant flirting with the Married Lady ( who by the way also happens to be a friend of mine) . Give me a break, She is married, so My Liscense to flirt increases by manifolds. Why because she is an Indian Girl ?? Thats why ?? Hmmm !!! Did not understand ?? Well after marriage flirting with a Indian girl is like flirting with the wall. No effect !! Its like mutiplying a million or a billion or even a zillion (quite frankly I really dont know whether there is something called a zillion) to zero, end product zero. I think I can read your minds. . . . . You would have either called me an MCP or would have just said Point taken.

Now under normal circumstances the previous two paragraphs followed by a good funny conclusion would have resulted in getting Kudos from other MCP's just like me and to the remaining, I would say well I dont give a damn . . . . to what you think. But the fact is it does not end here. Why does it not end here well read on to find out.

I used to always think and believe in the ONE PERFECT GIRL FOR ME concept. Well quite frankly fell in love a lot of times( No you really would not want me to elaborate on that list because I could write another article on that), was in the daze that I had finally found the one till we eventually broke up. I did realise one break up is not the end of the world and so on forth. But thats not the point I am trying to make. Well always wondered and still wondering most of us are going to get married to someone we would have not known for even 2 minutes. Whereas when any of us would fall in love ( except the Love at first sight kind of people , I really dont think love at first sight is possible) , we would want to know the other person 100% before taking the plunge. Ummm !!!! Very Interesting Contradiction, dont you think ??? a la Mungaru Maley or even a Hum dil de chuke sanam, dont you think ??

Now let me just make this contradiction a little more absurd, so to speak. Had the above conversation with a friend who thought the same way as I did before she got married. I said what about now ?? Well the answer was simple- I am happy with him now, why should I bother about all of it now. At the same time, another of my friends had this guy come over to see her, his honewali dhulan . . . . . He asked her out, well she just put it off in the sweet way in which only girls can . . . And why did she do that , well she did not even know him for a day, how could she go out with him, so what if he is her prospective groom. Interesting but I guess the story is the same everywhere.

Well the catch here is ITS ALL ABOUT TRUST, isn't it. And also probably your instinct. There is no book by the name LOVE ++ for dummies or even MARRIAGE++ for dummies. You trust your instinct and take the plunge. All the ones who support Love marriages would say the guy/girl would never show his true colors when he proposes you for marriage. He/She could be a bloody drunkard or a gambler and the greatest sinner of them all, a WOMANISER/WH@#@. Ummm !!!! Very true, all these are possible. But then your lover could be any one of these and you would just not know. Trust me I know so many guys who would never call their girlfriends after a couple of drinks because their girlfriends think their Prince Charmings are teetotallers. So we are back to square one - CONTRADICTION !! PARADOX !! Maybe even HYPOCRITICAL.

Now looking again at the past three paragraphs, you would expect me to give you either a rosy conclusion of how nice our society is or how the conservative or orthodox way of life is killing us. Or you would even think that i would it off with loads of morals and advice. Ummm !!!! Well then it would be a true contradiction to what this blog stands for !!!!!!! Dont you think ???

Well the devil inside me or rather the Male Chauvinistic Pig that I am feels that if the world believes in equal oppurtunity, its ok if we guys have a little leverage in the aforementioned matters. After all let us the weaker sex (emotionally at least) have this last male bastion for ourselves. In other words, give us the less than average looking Indian male a chance. Anyways ladies all good looking are turning metrosexuals(who I believe are close cousins of the homosexuals) with gay abandon. So we are the only true "Asli Mard ka bacchas left". Trust me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disclaimer: I Dhiraj Bhandary had nothing to do with this article, some lady named Antiquity Blue played a huge role in the rendition of this provoking . . . . thought provoking article.

On a Road to Nowhere

A track, a stone in my path,
I stop, look around to find a signboard,
A grin and a dazed look,
The sign says "Road to nowhere".
A moon lit star studded sky above,
Nothing noone nowhere in sight,
Pole stars they say ,show you the way
A grin and a dazed look
I know I am on a road to nowhere.
El Dorado, city of Gold, A quest,
A rainbow in sight after the rains,
A Road to a pot of gold at the end,
A daze, a myth, a fantasy to fulfilled,
I have always been on the road,
A road that leads nowhere.

A drop of water to drink,
A thirst, I need to quench,
An oasis in sight nearby,
A mirage, an aberration,
A dazed look an a grin,
On a road to nowhere without a drop to drink.

The sun burns away the earth below,
In contact am I, Do I burn away,
A thought, an emotion, an instinct,
A dazed look and a grin,
On road to nowhere, my tears have dried away
A sign board, A grin, A dazed look,
A pole star, a moon lit star studded sky,
El Dorado, A quest, A rainbow and a pot of gold,
An oasis, a mirage, an aberration,
A thought, an instinct, a tear,
On a road to nowhere am I,
And they have all gone away.
